to improve your store and increase your sales

with more than 3000 apps on the Shopify app store, it seems a little bit difficult to decide which apps to use!


That's why many e-commerce source owners keep trying several apps and they download tenth and tenth of apps while others decide to keep it simple and to use zero apps.


Both scenarios are wrong because using many apps is very bad for your website speed and avoiding apps is also a bad strategy because many apps are very useful and are very critical for your store conversion rate.


In this blog post, I will list my top 5 Shopify free apps and I will explain why and where to use each one of them.

App #1: Product Review App

This app allows you to collect your customer’s reviews and to show them in your store.


Product reviews are very important because they are very strong social proof. 92.4% of people are more likely to buy a product online if they read a trusted review of it.


This app is extremely simple but it only allows customers to add written reviews. This means your customers can't include images of the products and they can't ask questions.

App#2: Section Feed ‑ Instagram Feed

This app is also a 100% free app and it allows you to add your Instagram feed inside of your home page.


You can also customize your Instagram feed by changing the colors and the layout.

App #3: Reconvert upsell and the cross-sell

This app is not 100% free.


It is free if you have less than 50 orders/month. when you start getting more than 50 orders per month you will have to pay for this app.


However, it has a one-month free trial and if you use this link you will get a 10% discount on your monthly fees.


This app allows you to create upsell and cross-sell on the thank you page which means you are creating post purchases upsell and cross-sell.


If you don't know the difference between upselling and cross-selling, you can watch this video that explains the difference between these 2 strategies and how and where to use them.

As a small summary:


  • Upsell is when you can upgrade the same product.

ex: When a store suggests that you buy version 3 of a product while you were buying version 2


  • Cross-sell is when you sell another product with The same product you are selling

ex: When a store suggests that you buy socks because you were buying shoes


Reconvert App allows you to use both strategies on the thank you page.


This is very powerful because people who reach the thank you page are people who trusted you and both from you. So it is way easier to convince them to buy again from you compared to convincing a total strange to buy from you.


The first purchase is always the hardest purchase to make!


The reconvert app allows you to create different thank you pages. You can create as many pages as you wish depending on what products your customer bought.


You can offer different things like product recommendations, a pop-up with the discount and you can also collect your customers' birthdays.



App #4: Shopify Emails

This app is very simple and it's perfect for someone who's just starting out and who doesn't have any time to invest in complicated email marketing apps.


With this app, you can send up to 2500 emails for free per month.


However, if you are very serious about creating your email marketing system which is something I highly recommend you to do, go with more professional apps like the one, I recommend in this video.

If you want to succeed in e-commerce in 2021, it's very important to create a whole system that's able to retain your customers and keep them coming back to your store.


This can only be done by creating an email marketing system that will keep your audience engaged with your brand.

Adding tabs to your product page is so important, and if your theme doesn't support tabs, this app is going to fix this problem because it helps you to create tabs inside of your product page.

When it comes to apps, less is always better. Keep the number of apps you use to the minimum possible.
